Caribbean Princess Cruise
66The Caribbean Princess is one of the larger luxury liners from the fleet of Princess Vessels, and an excellent vacation choice for families and singles alike. This boat can take you around the Caribbean in style and you will experience the lavish joys of cruising.
For a glimpse into this paradise, read on as I touch on some of the finer points of a Caribbean Princess Cruise, and also find some good tips along the way if you want to plan one yourself.
Main Attractions on the Caribbean Princess
First off, you need to understand that this boat is huge with a capacity of over 3,000 people. What is amazing however is that you actually feel like there is plenty of room on the boat, even when you are enjoying yourself in the public areas such as pools, restaurants and bars.
Speaking of which, here is a small taste of what you can expect on the Caribbean Princess cruise ship:
Food – there are all kinds of delicious selections to choose from, ranging from formal dinning to cozy nit coffee shops. There is a lot of seafood, which one would expect since you are out at sea. The Vines Wine and Seafood bar in particular is fantastic for getting a quick cocktail and shrimp, my personal favorite choice. Also, don’t skip the Pizzeria, its incredible!
In the end you won’t be disappointed with your choices of eats, trust me. This is by far one of the biggest perks when choosing a Caribbean Princess cruise vacation.
Tip: Sign up for Anytime Dining to avoid the hassle of having to plan your day around specific eating times. If you are a casual vacationer, you will really appreciate this.
Drinks – one of the coolest parts of going aboard a cruise is the décor and presentation of drinks. I’m talking Mai Thais, Sex on the Beach, Giant Margaritas…you name it and you drink it by the pool. The bars themselves are really nice too, and a great place to hang out and meet different people.
Tip: The soda cards are totally not worth the price, even though they give you refills whenever you want. The pop is usually flat, and I found myself not even drinking it after a few days. In any case, you should plan on drinking lots of water and booze. If you are bringing children, think of this as a good lesson in healthy eating habits.
Pools – probably my favorite attraction on the Caribbean Princess is the gigantic deck 15 pool on the back of the ship. This thing has a huge big screen, and includes a “night under the stars” live event, and best of all, you can see the wake of the ship right behind you! Super cool.
In addition to the incredible deck 15 pool, you have a large variety of smaller pools and Jacuzzi areas. In total I think there are roughly 15 different places you can go swimming, and you can always find an open chair at one of them.
Tip: If you want to hang out in style at the deck 15 pool, go early and stake your chair! Once you have done that, lay out and have a good time.
Fun – I often read review online of people talking about how they had no fun on a cruise and that there was nothing to do. You know what my response to that is – bull $#!^. Don’t make excuses for being anti-social and staying in your cabin all day. There are literally tons of things to do on a Caribbean Princess cruise….to name a few – over 10 different pools and spas, full service gym, virtual golf simulators, tennis courts , shuffle board, libraries, internet café, and that doesn’t even include all of the port stops!
Hint: The biggest key to having fun on a cruise is to get out there and meet some new people. The staff in particular can be a trip, especially the entertainment. We once chilled with one of the 1 man band acts for hours after his set, was a total blast.
Entertainment – this is the biggest selling point for me, the entertainment aboard the Caribbean Princess. You will have formal trained musicians playing jazz, lounge musicians, singers, and late night groups kicking up the energy a notch.
There will be times when I have seen the bartenders do shows about making martinis, or juggling liquor bottles around in their hands. It’s all good fun entertainment and the crew of the Caribbean really brings it ever trip.
Hint: Beware of magicians aboard the ship, they can trick you at any time!
Best Port Destinations
Overall I would say there are not many bad choices when it comes to the islands of the Caribbean. Each has a different token of wonder to offer, but in the end I guess there isn’t a specific port that I would recommend over another.
Here is a quick list of some of more common stop along the way:
- Bermuda
- Saint Martin
- St. Thomas
- Puero Rico

We took our first cruise last year, down into the caribbean area. As you say, it was fantastic on that huge ship, but I really enjoyed the ports even more.

My husband and I went on a short cruise for our honeymoon to the Bahamas and we loved it! It doesn't sound like the one we went on was near as big as the Caribbean Princess. That cruise sounds awesome! I'm wanting to go on one right now after reading this :) Thanks for sharing this hub and the great tips!
